Kwangwoon CTL Expands Tailored Programs for AI-Driven Classes

"How We Support AI-Driven Classes": Center for Teaching and Learning Operates Diverse Tailored Programs to Foster Educational Innovation 

 

  How to effectively integrate Generative AI into university classrooms has become a universal focus in higher education. To actively revitalize AI-driven instruction, Kwangwoon University’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is providing comprehensive support through college-specific tailored lectures, course development grants, and best-practice competitions. 

 

■ "Lectures Tailored by Major": Professor Seo Yoon-kyung of Seoul Women's University Invited to the College of Artificial Intelligence Convergence

The CTL has consistently operated customized teaching method lectures for specific colleges at the end of each semester. Recently, proposals for AI-themed lectures have increased significantly. During the spring semester of the 2026 academic year, the center invited Professor Seo Yoon-kyung from Seoul Women’s University to deliver a special lecture for the faculty of the College of Artificial Intelligence Convergence, titled "The Lesson Design Formula for Student Learning in the AI Era."

In addition, the CTL website (https://ontl.kw.ac.kr) currently offers a wide range of new e-learning courses under the "EdTech and AI Utilization" category. Any faculty member at Kwangwoon University can log in and access these learning resources.

 

■​ "AI in the Humanities and Social Sciences": Unveiling Professor Lee So-eun's <General 1 Civil Law Provisions of> Course Case

AI integration is also taking root in the university's course development support programs. Through Case-Based Teaching and Learning (CBTL)—a student-participatory instructional method centered on real-world cases—the CTL identifies and supports innovative teaching practices, offering "AI-assisted learning" as one of its key pillars. In the spring semester of 2026, Professor Lee So-eun of the Department of Law implemented CBTL AI-assisted learning in her major course, <General 1 Civil Law Provisions of>. This stands as a meaningful milestone, demonstrating that AI utilization is highly viable even in traditional humanities and social science majors, contrasting with previous faculty needs assessments where senior professors reported relatively lower readiness for AI.

■​​ "Preserving Excellence in a Best-Practice Compilation": AI Classroom Integration Contest

Furthermore, the CTL hosted a competition to discover outstanding examples of AI utilization in the classroom. The contest targeted full-time faculty members who completed the center's AI-related teaching lectures or e-learning courses during the spring semester of 2026, with case submissions accepted until July 13. The winning instructional cases will be published in a best-practice compilation and made publicly available on the CTL website.

  Regarding these initiatives, Kwangwoon University President Yoon Do-young remarked, "AI is no longer a technology confined to a specific field, but a core tool driving educational innovation across all academic disciplines. Our university will expand continuous support so that faculty members can effectively utilize AI in accordance with their major characteristics and educational goals, thereby shaping an educational environment that nurtures our students' future competencies."

 

  Son Hee-sang, Director of the Institute for Educational Innovation, added, "The Center for Teaching and Learning recently conducted a teaching support program needs assessment among our faculty to closely gauge their perceptions and readiness regarding AI. Moving forward, we plan to accelerate our tailored support for AI classroom integration based thoroughly on these survey results."​
