Kwangwoon University Hosts Launch Ceremony for 2026 Summer International Volunteer Corps to Practice Global Sharing in Kavre, Nepal
The launch ceremony for Kwangwoon University's 2026 Summer International Volunteer Corps.
On Tuesday, July 7, Kwangwoon University (President Yoon Do-young) held the launch ceremony for the 2026 Summer International Volunteer Corps, marking the spirited departure of volunteers heading to the Kavre district of Nepal.
Guided by its educational philosophy of "Pursuing Pragmatism and Cultivating Humane Character," Kwangwoon University coordinates annual overseas volunteer activities to support students in practicing global community awareness and the value of sharing. For this summer's initiative, 20 current students possessing a strong volunteer spirit, a deep sense of responsibility, and global literacy were finalized through a rigorous document and interview screening process.
The International Volunteer Corps will operate at the Dhulikhel Human School in the Kavre district, Nepal, for a 7-night, 9-day itinerary from Tuesday, July 14, to Wednesday, July 22. While on-site, they will nurture their capacities as global citizens by conducting educational volunteering for low-income students, executing physical labor to improve school facilities, and facilitating cultural exchange programs to introduce Korean culture and connect with the local community.
Choi Jae-hyuk, CEO of Wonheung E&C, also attended the launch ceremony to encourage the students by sponsoring scholarships for all 20 volunteers. Consequently, the ceremony served not only to celebrate the departure of the volunteer corps but also as a meaningful venue where the university, the local community, and a corporation united to realize the value of international giving.
"As we have prepared thoroughly with the safety of every single member as our top priority, I hope our students will practice the values of sharing and consideration with pride and responsibility as representatives of Kwangwoon University," President Yoon Do-young stated. "We will continue to spearhead efforts to fulfill the university's social responsibilities and nurture next-generation global leaders."
Moving forward, Kwangwoon University plans to continue enhancing students' international perspectives and community competencies through various global social contribution programs, thereby realizing the university's social accountability.
