Graduate School of Construction Law Holds Joint Seminar with Yanbian University in China

  The Graduate School of Construction Law at Kwangwoon University (Dean: Lee Chun-won) announced that it successfully concluded an overseas academic seminar held at Yanbian University in Yanji, China, from June 25 to 28. The four-day visit was organized to strengthen the graduate school's global engagement and promote international academic exchange.

  A total of 22 participants, including Dean Lee Chun-won, faculty members, administrative staff, and graduate students, took part in the program. On the second day of the visit, June 26, the delegation visited the Law School of Yanbian University, where they were warmly welcomed by Dean Wu Donghao, faculty members, and staff before participating in a joint academic seminar.

  Following an introduction to Yanbian University and a guided campus tour, the joint seminar was held in the seminar room on the first floor of the Law School. The event opened with a welcome address by Dean Wu Donghao of the Law School at Yanbian University, followed by a response from Dean Lee Chun-won of Kwangwoon University's Graduate School of Construction Law. After introductions of the participants from both institutions, the seminar proceeded with academic presentations and an interactive question-and-answer session.

  ​Dean Wu Donghao of the Law School at Yanbian University expressed his appreciation to the visiting delegation, stating, "Founded in 1949, Yanbian University is one of China's top 100 universities. While preserving the identity and heritage of the Korean ethnic community, the university has achieved remarkable academic accomplishments across a wide range of disciplines."

  In response, Dean Lee Chun-won of Kwangwoon University's Graduate School of Construction Law said, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone at Yanbian University for organizing this meaningful seminar. As Korea's leading graduate institution for construction law, our Graduate School of Construction Law is dedicated to educating professionals who possess specialized expertise in construction legislation and are capable of proactively addressing dispute resolution and appraisal practices. We will continue to cultivate talent that leads both domestic and international markets while making meaningful contributions to society."

  The presentation session featured in-depth research that broadened both academic and practical perspectives on the legal systems of the two countries. Professor Kim Ro-ryun of the Law School at Yanbian University delivered a presentation on "China's Real Estate Legal System," highlighting recent developments and emerging legal trends. Professor Yoon Hyung-seok, an Adjunct Professor at Kwangwoon University's Graduate School of Construction Law, presented "A Comparative Study of the Construction and Real Estate Legal Systems of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture and South Korea," which received an enthusiastic response from participants.

  Following the presentations, faculty members and students from both universities engaged in a lively question-and-answer session that continued for more than three hours, exchanging views to deepen their understanding of the differences in social structures and real estate legal systems between the two countries. Through this overseas seminar, Kwangwoon University's Graduate School of Construction Law achieved meaningful outcomes, including strengthening its global academic exchange network, enhancing students' practical competencies and international perspectives, promoting opportunities for Yanbian University students to pursue further studies at Kwangwoon University, and advancing professional expertise through comparative research on the legal systems of Korea and China.
