Kwangwoon University Partners with KBS to Lead AI-Driven Media Innovation Training

- New master’s program in AI Media Solutions to launch in 2026 for SME professionals -

November 14, 2025, Kwangwoon University has successfully concluded its “AI Media Solutions Training Program”, jointly developed and delivered with Korea Broadcasting System (KBS), Korea’s  national public broadcaster. The intensive course, held in two phases from October 20 and ending on November 14, trained 79 KBS staff members in both AI-based administrative automation, next-generation broadcasting, and media production techniques.

Participants worked in teams to develop real AI solutions based on actual KBS workflows, presenting prototypes that could be applied immediately on site—one of the most highly praised aspects of the program.

The course was led not only by Kwangwoon University’s media and AI faculty but also by industry experts, including an AI tech company CTO, AI creators, International AI Ethics Association members, and an award-winning AI film director. Training took place at the KBS New Building Studio for the first cohort (41 participants) and at the KBS HR Development Institute for the second (38 participants), with each group completing 40 hours of instruction.

Professor Sang-Yeon Kim (Program Director, School of Media & Communication) and adjunct professor Hee-Dae Lee, who oversaw on-site instruction, described the project as “a practical model designed not just for education but for real innovation inside KBS.” They emphasized that participants left the course with AI skills that could be applied immediately in the workplace.

Kwangwoon University will further expand this initiative by launching a new graduate‐level program, the “AI Media Solutions Department”, beginning in 2026. This program—selected by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups under the National SME Contract Education Initiative—will offer a master’s degree tailored for employees of small and medium-sized enterprises, with a focus on AI- and data-driven content strategy and digital transformation. The new curriculum is based on the same academic framework used in the KBS training program.
