Kwangwoon University strengthens its status as a national hub for robot-convergence education under the Intelligent Robot Innovation Convergence Program

September 7,2025,The 2025 Gangnam Robot & AI Competition, co-hosted by Kwangwoon University and the Gangnam District Office, successfully concluded on September 7 at SETEC Exhibition Halls 1 and 2. Approximately 1,000 participants—from elementary students to adults—competed across eight categories, including four individual and four team-based events.

Among the most notable attractions were the adult categories such as the Quadruped Robot Racing and Robot Chef Cooking Battle, which drew attention for their creative fusion of robotics and everyday life. The Intelligent Robot Innovation Convergence University Program supported participants by offering hands-on robot platform training, robot-teaching workshops, and team-based coaching, strengthening participants’ practical and industry-ready competencies. On-site immersive robot operation sessions also helped boost engagement and skill acquisition.

A total of 32 teams received awards, including the Kwangwoon University President’s Award, the Gangnam District Mayor’s Award, and the Intelligent Robot Innovation Convergence University Award, with ₩7.2 million in total prize awarded.

Building on the momentum of this year’s event, the Kwangwoon University Intelligent Robot Innovation Convergence Program plans to further advance a robot- and AI-centered talent ecosystem that connects industry, academia, research institutions, and government. The university is expanding public access to robotics through various educational and experiential programs for both students and citizens, contributing to the democratization and social diffusion of advanced technology.

Going forward, the program aims to establish a regional cooperative network for intelligent robot talent development, co-develop industry-driven educational content, and build a sustainable collaboration model that links education, technology policy, and robotics industry growth.
