Kwangwoon University Partners with KBS to Lead AI-Driven Media Innovation Training

- New master’s program in AI Media Solutions to launch in 2026 for SME professionals -

November 14, 2025. Kwangwoon University has successfully concluded its “AI Media Solutions Training Program,” jointly developed and delivered with Korea Broadcasting System (KBS), Korea’s national public broadcaster. The intensive course, held in two phases from October 20 and ending on November 14, trained 79 KBS staff members in AI-based administrative automation, next-generation broadcasting, and media production techniques.

Participants worked in teams to develop real AI solutions based on actual KBS workflows, presenting prototypes that could be applied immediately on site—one of the most highly praised aspects of the program.

The course was led by Kwangwoon University’s media and AI faculty alongside industry experts, including an AI technology company CTO, AI creators, members of the International AI Ethics Association, and an award-winning AI film director. Training was conducted at the KBS New Building Studio for the first cohort and at the KBS Human Resources Development Institute for the second cohort, with each group completing 40 hours of instruction.

Professor Sang-Yeon Kim, Program Director of the School of Media and Communication, and adjunct professor Hee-Dae Lee, who oversaw on-site instruction, described the project as a practical model designed not only for education but also for real innovation within KBS. They emphasized that participants completed the course with AI competencies that could be applied immediately in their professional roles.

Building on this initiative, Kwangwoon University will launch a new graduate-level program, the AI Media Solutions Department, beginning in 2026. Selected by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups under the National SME Contract Education Initiative, the program will offer a master’s degree tailored for employees of small and medium-sized enterprises, focusing on AI- and data-driven content strategy and digital transformation. The curriculum is based on the same academic framework applied in the KBS training program.
