Kwangwoon University (President Do-Young Yoon) held the official launch ceremony for the "Kwangwoon AI·AX Alliance" on Friday, May 29, at the Kwangwoon University Pangyo Campus, formally establishing a collaborative network bridging industry, academia, and research institutes.
Last year, Kwangwoon University established the "Kwangwoon AI·AX Future Strategy Committee" directly under the president's office, driving a comprehensive AI and AX (AI Transformation) overhaul across all fields of university R&D, industry-university cooperation, and talent cultivation. The launch ceremony brought together faculty members from the Future Strategy Committee, representatives from participating alliance companies and institutions, and graduate students to discuss future developments in AI·AX technology and outline the university's strategic response.
■ Structure and Strategic Direction of the Alliance
The ‘Kwangwoon AI·AX Alliance’ is structured around 8 major technological divisions:

More than 60 professors from Kwangwoon University and 104 partner companies in relevant fields are participating across these divisions. Kwangwoon University and its partner companies plan to collaborate closely on AI·AX R&D, industry-university cooperation, human resource cultivation, policy formulation, and technology commercialization.
Presentations from each of the 8 technical divisions detailed their respective AI·AX transformation R&D and industry-university cooperation strategies, introducing the involved faculty and corporate partners.
Professor Jin-Oh Kim, CEO of Robot and Design and a Chair Professor at Kwangwoon University, delivered a keynote address titled "Strategies for Coping with the Age of Physical AI."
Following a welcoming address by Kwangwoon University President Do-Young Yoon, congratulatory remarks were delivered by Young-Hoon Cho (President of the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement) and Jong-Ok Kim (President of the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers of Korea). The event concluded with an introduction of the alliance by Dong-Gyu Sim (Dean of the College of AI Convergence) and the official declaration of the alliance's launch by Hyun-Chul Shin (Dean of the Graduate School).

With the launch of the AI·AX Alliance, Kwangwoon University is set to accelerate the AI·AX transformation of its research capabilities and industry-academia-research cooperation network. The university aims to drive joint R&D, commercialize technologies, and establish tailored professional training programs.
