Kwangwoon hosts Robot Developer Conference (ROSConKR '26)

January 29th, 2026, Kwangwoon University hosted the inaugural Robot Operating System developer conference (ROSCon) Korea 2026 at the Pangyo Global Business Center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, Jan. 21-22.
ROSCon Korea 2026 brought together developers, researchers and industry professionals from academic, research and corporate sectors to share technical cases and latest research developments leveraging ROS technology.
The event was co-hosted by robotics and AI technology education firm PinkLAB, robotics technology company XYZ and Kwangwoon University.
On the first day, sessions covered core ROS topics including ROS 2 software architecture, Gazebo simulation environments, imitation learning workflows, humanoid robot control and service robot applications.
The second day featured advanced discussions on large language model (LLM) integration with robotics and applications of physical AI, along with workshops emphasizing hands-on practice and community networking.
In addition to formal presentations, the conference featured networking events and lightning talk sessions designed to promote exchanges among participants.
Student volunteers from Kwangwoon University’s robotics game team RO:BIT provided support for registration, session management and presenter rehearsals.
Event organizers described ROSCon Korea 2026 as a milestone event for the domestic ROS ecosystem, enabling Korean developers, researchers and students to deepen their understanding of ROS and expand technical networks. They expressed expectations that the event would positively impact the growth of the country’s robotics software industry and research community.
“The event showcased the latest trends in robot software — from ROS 2 foundations to LLM integration and physical AI — and created practical pathways for expanding research and development achievements into industry,” Conference chair and Kwangwoon University robotics professor Park Su-han said in a press release.
