Kwangwoon University (President Do-Young Yoon)’s Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development (HUSS) Global Coexistence Project operated the Cisco Live Sustainable Global Leadership Program” in the Netherlands from Thursday, February 5 to Friday, February 13 in collaboration with Cisco, a leading global ICT company.

This program was designed to cultivate convergent talent capable of bridging technology and society by connecting global industrial sites with cases of urban regeneration. Eight students from departments participating in the HUSS Global Coexistence Consortium gained valuable experience in understanding both technological innovation and urban sustainability through participation in a global technology conference and field visits to European cities.

The participating students attended Cisco Live, a global technology conference joined by IT professionals and corporate representatives from around the world, where they explored the latest trends in networks, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cybersecurity, and sustainable IT strategies.

Through a wide range of technical sessions and exhibition booths, they were able to see firsthand how digital transformation and sustainability strategies are being implemented in real industrial settings. In particular, they examined ICT applications connected to sustainability, including energy-efficient network technologies, smart infrastructure solutions, and data-driven operating systems, while exploring ways to link technological advancement with the creation of social value.

In addition, during the program, the students visited Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Brussels to examine local eco-friendly transportation systems, smart infrastructure, data-driven urban management systems, and strategies for revitalizing historic spaces. In particular, by visiting KOTRA’s Netherlands Trade Office and European Union (EU) institutions, they were able to see firsthand how sustainability and urban competitiveness are connected within Europe’s public policy environment.

Professor Hee-Dae Park of the Division of International Trade, who planned and operated the program, said, “By directly experiencing urban regeneration sites in Europe and Cisco Live, the students were given an opportunity to view technology and society in an integrated way.” He added, “It was a meaningful experience that helped them develop a global perspective by connecting sustainability with digital transformation.”

Meanwhile, the HUSS Global Coexistence Consortium has been operated with financial support from the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea from 2024 to 2026, with the goal of fostering convergent talent in the humanities and social sciences.
