Kwangwoon University Wins Grand Prize in the Creative Category at the 61st JoongAng Advertising Awards

– The “Kwangwoon Infinite Research Engine” campaign expresses the limitless potential of the university’s research capabilities –

December 18th, 2025. Kwangwoon University (President Yoon Do-young) announced that its advertising campaign, “Kwangwoon Infinite Research Engine,” won the Creative Grand Prize in the OOH (Out-of-Home) category at the 61st JoongAng Advertising Awards, hosted by JoongAng Ilbo. The award ceremony was held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at the Westin Josun Seoul.

 

The award-winning campaign was planned and produced by the Public Relations Team of the Office of External and International Affairs. It is distinguished by its visualization of Kwangwoon University’s internationally competitive research capabilities through the symbolic design language of infinity (∞). In particular, the campaign creatively presents the university’s research achievements—such as 8th place nationwide in the Faculty Research category of the 2024 JoongAng Ilbo University Rankings, 1st place nationwide in the Citation Index of the 2025 JoongAng Ilbo University Rankings, and 6th place domestically in the Leiden Ranking—under the concept of an “endlessly operating research engine,” earning high praise from the judges.

 

The jury commented, “The campaign creatively expresses the scalability and potential of Kwangwoon University’s research capabilities through the design element of infinity,” adding that “it is impressive how the university’s identity was clearly realized through a strong creative strategy, maximizing the overall advertising impact.”

Sang-Yeon Kim, Director of External and International Affairs, who led the advertising campaign, said, “We aimed to move beyond the conventional framework of university advertising and deliver Kwangwoon University’s strengths through more bold and unconventional imagery and visuals.” He added, “Building on this award, we will continue to expand Kwangwoon University’s brand value through strategic advertising campaigns.” He also expressed his gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank the members of the Kwangwoon community who gave strong support to our PR team through the online readers’ voting.”

 

Meanwhile, the JoongAng Advertising Awards, hosted annually by JoongAng Ilbo since its founding in 1965, are recognized as one of Korea’s most prestigious advertising honors. Winners are selected based on a combined evaluation of 40% readers’ jury scores, 40% advertising professionals’ jury scores, and 20% executive committee assessment. This year’s award recipients included Kwangwoon University, Korea Expressway Corporation, KT, KT&G, SK Innovation, and Bulgari, among others.
