Global Coexistence HUSS Project Team Holds a Performance-Sharing Conference for the First Phase of the Global Coexistence Consortium

  Kwangwoon University’s Global Coexistence Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development (HUSS) Project Team, led by Project Director Lee Hye-young, held a Performance-Sharing Conference for the First Phase of the Global Coexistence Consortium on August 28 at Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun.

  The conference brought together Kwangwoon University, the lead institution of the Global Coexistence Consortium, along with Kookmin University, Sun Moon University, Yeungnam University, and Honam University. Participants shared the major achievements of the first-phase project and students’ experiences, while also discussing directions for the second phase of the project.

  The event was designed not only to share the consortium’s overall achievements, but also to highlight students’ experiences gained through their participation in educational and extracurricular programs. It also provided an opportunity to listen to students’ feedback and discuss strategies for the participating universities’ second-phase initiatives, as well as the consortium’s future direction. In the first session, Lee Hye-young, Director of the HUSS Project Consortium at Kwangwoon University, presented the key achievements of the consortium’s first-phase project. This was followed by a keynote address by Jo Eun-byeol, Head of the WeGO Business Division, which continued the discussion on global coexistence and related initiatives.

  In the second session, under the theme of “Sharing and Disseminating Student Achievements,” outstanding cases from the five participating universities and the outcomes of 10 extracurricular programs were presented. The university-specific presentations highlighted students’ experiences in which their participation in the HUSS project led to interdisciplinary collaboration, career exploration, and the expansion of their research and career opportunities.

  The session also featured the outcomes of a variety of extracurricular programs, including inter-university exchange programs such as the Joint Convergence Camp and the Global Coexistence Joint Academic Festival, overseas field-based programs, and practical skills development programs utilizing generative AI and prompt engineering.

 The third session concluded the conference with students sharing their feedback on the project, followed by presentations from the directors of the HUSS project teams at the five consortium universities on their strategies for implementing the second phase of the project. Lee Hye-young, Project Director, said, “This performance-sharing conference provided an opportunity to reflect on the educational achievements and student experiences accumulated during the first phase of the project and to explore directions for the next phase based on those experiences.” She added, “Going forward, we will further strengthen collaboration among the participating universities so that students can gain diverse experiences beyond the boundaries of their majors and universities, and grow into interdisciplinary talents who can put the values of global coexistence into practice.”

  Meanwhile, the Global Coexistence HUSS Consortium has been operating from 2024 to 2026 with financial support from the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), with the goal of nurturing interdisciplinary talent in the humanities and social sciences.
