1. 비자 연장 신청 중 출국 = 신청 무효
* 상황: 3월 또는 9월에 비자 연장 신청을 하고, 심사 결과(허가)가 나오기 전에 출국하는 경우.

* 위험: 신청이 취소된 상태에서 비자 만료일(3/31 또는 9/30)이 지나면, 학생은 유효한 한국 비자가 없는 상태가 됩니다.
2. [주의] 학기 시작 후에는 표준입학허가서(CoA) 발급 불가
* 위와 같이 비자가 만료된 학생이 다시 한국에 들어오려면 새로운 비자가 필요합니다.
* 그러나 출입국 규정 상 '학기가 시작된 이후(3월/9월 중)에는 새로운 비자 발급을 위한 '표준입학허가서(CoA)' 발행이 원칙적으로 불가능'합니다.
* 즉, 비자 연장 없이 출국했다가 만료일이 지나면, 이번 학기 내에는 재입국이 불가능하며 강제로 휴학해야 합니다.
3. 긴급 출국 시 반드시 지켜야 할 절차
긴급한 가정 상황 등 예상치 못한 사고로 비자 만료일 직전에 급히 출국해야 한다면, **반드시 출국 당일 전까지** 아래 조치를 완료해야 합니다.
1. 조기 심사 요청: 관할 출입국사무소에 증빙 서류(사망진단서 등)를 지참하여 방문, 출국 전 연장 허가를 먼저 받으십시오.
2. 외국인등록증 수령 확인: 연장 허가가 전산상으로 처리되었는지 1345를 통해 확인한 후 출국하십시오.
3. 학교 신고: 국제교류팀 담당자에게 출국 사실을 알리고 비자 상태를 점검 받으십시오.
4. 학사 관리 및 휴학 안내
학기 중 출국으로 인해 수업 일수가 부족(전체 수업의 1/4 이상 결석)할 경우, 비자가 있더라도 성적 미달 또는 제적 처리가 될 수 있습니다.

Recently, there have been cases where students had to leave Korea urgently due to personal emergencies during the semester or while their visa extension was under review. Leaving the country without fully understanding visa regulations can lead to serious academic disruptions, including loss of legal stay status and the inability to re-enter Korea.
We are providing these guidelines for visa management during emergency departures. Please ensure you follow these rules to avoid any disadvantages.
Most international students at our university have visa expiration dates on March 31 or September 30. Since these dates coincide with the start of the new semester, leaving before your visa extension is approved can result in a suspension of your studies.
Please read the following information carefully.
Situation: Leaving Korea after applying for a visa extension in March or September, but before the final approval is granted.
Result: Your application for a visa extension will be automatically canceled the moment you depart.
Risk: Once the application is canceled and your original visa expires (March 31 or September 30), you will no longer hold a valid Korean visa.
If your visa expires as described above, you will need a new visa to re-enter Korea.
However, according to immigration regulations, it is generally impossible to issue a new 'Certificate of Admission (CoA)' for a new visa once the semester has already begun (during March/September).
In short: If you leave without completing your visa extension and your visa expires, you will be unable to re-enter during the current semester and will be forced to take a Leave of Absence (LOA).
If you must leave Korea urgently before your visa expiration date due to unexpected emergencies (e.g., family bereavement), you MUST complete the following steps before the day of your departure:
Request Early Screening: Visit the competent Immigration Office with supporting documents (e.g., death certificate) to receive your visa extension approval before you leave.
Verify Approval Status: Confirm through the 1345 Immigration Contact Center that your extension has been officially processed in the system.
Report to the University: Notify the OIA of your departure and have your visa status checked by a staff.
Even if you have a valid visa, missing more than 1/4 of the total class days during the semester may result in academic failure or expulsion.
If you expect your stay abroad to be prolonged, you must consult with your department or the undergraduate or graduate School Office to apply for a 'Leave of Absence (LOA)' to prevent academic penalties.
